Colonial Heights Public Schools has formerly partnered with iTeach and the VDOE to provide an alternative pathway to initial teacher licensure. This pathway, intendended for those who already possess a bachelor's degree in any field and a desire to teach, offers a faster and more cost effective track towards becoming a licensed teacher in the State of Virginia.
You'll submit your official university transcripts and $250 enrollment fee and then complete an introductory course. Lastly, you'll acknowledge your letter of acceptance and be on your way to becoming a licensed VA teacher!

You'll complete 6 to 10 courses that cover topics like learning environments, assessment, teaching diverse populations, and more! As part of your program and at no extra cost, you'll be able to complete test prep through Passage Preparation to better prepare you to pass your VA state-required test(s) like the Praxis.
Once you pass your Praxis, you'll be able to work with our HR department to apply for a Provisional Teaching License.

After the completion of your coursework, you'll complete your field experience right here in CHPS. A CHPS administrator will work alongside you to observe you, provide valuable feedback, and help you apply your new knowledge and skills!
