Hike for Haiti/Hike for Hope

In the sprit of hope and helping others, the students of Lakeview, North, and Tussing Elementary Schools collected donations for the American Red Cross to aid in the relief efforts for the recent natural disasters around the world. Students took part in the Hike for Haiti/Hike for Hope on Friday, April 2, 2010.  The hike was sponsored by the CREATE program and the Parent-Teacher Organizations of each elementary school.

The schools began collecting money in March. Family and friends of students were asked to donate to this worthwhile project. A total of $3,103.00 was donated to the American Red Cross. When the idea for this hike was first visualized, only Haiti was experiencing such devastation; now we are well aware of other much needed relief efforts. Students enthusiastically "hiked" to show their support for those in need around the world.
